Do I need to already use another AI app like Claude Desktop or ChatGPT to use this?
No — WorkAny is its own standalone desktop application. You open it directly and chat with it there; it isn't a plugin that lives inside another app.
Can I use this to organize messy files on my computer?
Yes — you can describe what you want done in plain English, and it will sort, rename, and arrange your files for you.
Can I use this to create a document, spreadsheet, or slide presentation?
Yes — you can describe what you need, and it will generate a document, a data table, or a slide deck, with a preview of the result before you use it.
Do I need an account or an API key to use it?
Yes — you'll need an API key from an AI provider such as OpenRouter, Anthropic's Claude, or OpenAI, which you enter into the app's settings.
How hard is it to set up?
Setting it up currently takes some technical know-how. As of now, you need to build it from the project's source code using developer tools like Node.js and Rust, rather than downloading a ready-made installer.
Is it safe to let it run code or make changes on my computer?
It runs code in an isolated, contained space designed to keep it separate from the rest of your computer, though as with any AI agent, it's wise to review what it's about to do before approving anything important.
Can it connect to outside tools and data sources?
Yes — it supports the Model Context Protocol, which lets it reach outside tools, files, and services beyond what's built in.
Is this free to use?
The app itself is open source, though you'll still need to pay your chosen AI provider, such as OpenRouter, Anthropic, or OpenAI, for the AI usage behind your requests.
