Alarms, repeats, and location-based triggers can be read back but not set, so you still configure those inside the Apple apps themselves.

A Model Context Protocol (MCP) server providing native integration with Apple Reminders and Calendar on macOS via the EventKit framework. Exposes reminders, lists, subtasks, and calendar events through a standardized interface with full CRUD operations.

The EventKit backend is the standalone event Swift CLI, vendored as a git submodule and built into bin/event during pnpm install — no separate brew install required. See docs/migration-to-event-cli.md for the v1.5.0 backend swap and the list of write fields not yet exposed by event.

Do I need a key or an account?
No. It talks to the Reminders and Calendar apps already on your Mac, so there is nothing to sign up for and nothing to pay.
Will this work on Windows?
No. It leans on Apple's own reminders and calendar system, so a Mac is required — macOS 14 or newer, with Node 20 or later installed.
Can I use this to plan my week out loud?
Yes. Ask what is due, add new reminders, reschedule calendar events, and check finished items off, all in one conversation.
Can it set an alarm or a repeating reminder?
No. Alarms, repeats, and location-triggered reminders can be read back but not created or edited here. Set those once inside the Reminders app.
Which apps does it work in?
Claude Desktop, Cursor, and ChatWise all have written instructions, and any assistant that accepts a small pasted config will run it.
Why does my Mac ask permission for something called 'event'?
That is the small helper it uses to reach your data. Approving it once covers every assistant on the machine instead of each one prompting separately.
How hard is setup?
You paste a two-line config. Nothing has to be built or compiled, since the ready-made helper ships with it, but you do have to approve two macOS permission prompts.
Can it delete things?
Yes. Reminders, lists, and calendar events can all be removed on request with no extra confirmation, so be specific about what you want gone.
I found this under the name mcp-server-apple-reminders. Is that the same thing?
Yes, that is the older name. It is now published as mcp-server-apple-events and also handles calendars, so use the newer name in fresh setups.
