MCP.Pizza Chef: github

Made by GitHub itself, this server lets an assistant read and act on your repositories: summarizing open issues, drafting a pull request description, reviewing what changed this week, or searching code across projects. There is a hosted version you simply point your app at, and a local version you run yourself. Either way you sign in with GitHub or paste a personal access token, and you choose exactly which permissions to grant.

github-mcp-server FAQ

Which apps does this work in?
Any app that supports MCP. VS Code has a one-click install button, and others take a small config snippet.
Do I need a GitHub token?
You either sign in with GitHub or create a personal access token, and you pick which permissions it gets.
Can I use this to review pull requests?
Yes. Your assistant can read the pull request, its files, and its comments, then summarize it or draft a reply.
Do I have to install anything?
Not for the hosted version, which you point your app at directly. The local version needs Docker.
Is this the official GitHub one?
Yes, it is built and maintained by GitHub.
Can it change my repositories?
Only as far as your token allows. Grant read-only permissions if you want it to look but not touch.
