MCP.Pizza Chef: alexander-zuev

Worth knowing first: this is no longer actively maintained, and its author now points people at Supabase's own official server. What it does is read and write your database from a chat window, keep a record of every structure change it makes, manage projects and user accounts, and surface recent logs. Requests are sorted into safe, write and destructive, with read-only behaviour as the default. Running it takes Python 3.12 or newer, a package install, and a free key from thequery.dev.

README

Query | MCP server for Supabase

🌅 More than 17k installs via pypi and close to 30k downloads on Smithery.ai — in short, this was fun! 🥳 Thanks to everyone who has been using this server for the past few months, and I hope it was useful for you. Since Supabase has released their own official MCP server, I've decided to no longer actively maintain this one. The official MCP server is as feature-rich, and many more features will be added in the future. Check it out!

Query MCP is an open-source MCP server that lets your IDE safely run SQL, manage schema changes, call the Supabase Management API, and use Auth Admin SDK — all with built-in safety controls.

supabase-mcp-server FAQ

Is this still maintained?
No. The author stepped back once Supabase released its own official server and recommends using that instead.
Which apps does it work in?
Cursor, Windsurf, Cline, VS Code and Claude Desktop — anything that can launch a local tool.
Do I need a key?
Yes. Since version 0.4 it needs a free key from thequery.dev, plus your Supabase project reference and database password.
Can I use this to look at my data without risking a change?
Yes — read-only is the default, and anything that writes or deletes has to be switched on deliberately.
How hard is setup?
It leans technical: Python 3.12 or newer, installing a package from a terminal, and several settings to fill in.
What goes wrong most often?
The wrong region setting, which shows up as a 'tenant or user not found' error.
