Sixteen lookups cover Chinese mapping data from Amap: turning an address into map coordinates and back again, weather by city, place search, nearby search, distance between two points, and cycling, walking, driving and public-transport routes. Everything is read-only, so nothing can be changed or deleted. A free Amap developer key is required and carries daily usage limits. Coverage is mainland China, so do not expect it to plan a route across London.

Do I need an account key?
Yes — a free Amap developer key from their open platform. The server refuses to start without one, and free keys come with a daily request limit you can exhaust.
Does it work outside China?
Not usefully. Amap is a Chinese mapping service, so addresses, place search, routes and weather are built around mainland China. Elsewhere you will mostly get empty or wrong answers.
Can it change or delete anything?
No. All sixteen tools only look information up, so the worst it can do is use up your daily quota or return a wrong answer.
Is it safe to run the shared network version?
Be careful. In the two networked modes it accepts connections from every network your computer is on, with no password of any kind, so anyone on the same wifi could spend your daily quota. The plain default mode, which runs only for your own app, is the safer choice.
Can I use this to plan my commute?
Yes, if you commute in a Chinese city. Ask for the journey by address and it will compare driving, walking, cycling and public transport for you.
How hard is setup?
Easy. Install the uv tool once, then paste a few lines of settings with your key into your assistant's config file and restart it.
Which apps does it work in?
Any assistant that accepts a small settings snippet, such as Claude Desktop, Cursor or Cline. The project's own notes are written in Chinese, which is worth knowing before you start.
