MCP.Pizza Chef: jagan-shanmugam

Twelve commands run on free OpenStreetMap data: turn an address into a map point and back, list nearby places by category, get walking, cycling or driving directions, pick a fair meeting spot for a group, describe a neighborhood, and find schools, chargers or parking. No account or key is needed. Be aware that there is no live traffic and no public transport. The commute comparison covers car, foot and bike only, and its departure-time setting is accepted but ignored. Last updated July 2025.

open-streetmap-mcp FAQ

Do I need an account or a paid key?
No. It relies on the free public OpenStreetMap services, so there is nothing to sign up for. Heavy use can be slowed down by those services, though.
Can I use this to plan a commute?
Yes for driving, walking and cycling — it compares all three side by side. Public transport is not covered, and the departure-time option is accepted but has no effect.
Does it know about traffic?
No. Travel times come from road data alone, with no live congestion, closures or rush-hour adjustment.
How reliable is the parking and charger information?
As reliable as whoever mapped it. Capacity and fees only appear where a volunteer recorded them, so plenty of entries come back blank.
Which apps does it work in?
Claude Desktop, Cursor and Windsurf are documented, and any MCP app that can run a local command works the same way.
How hard is setup?
One short block in your app's settings that runs the package with uvx. You need Python tooling installed first.
Is the project still being updated?
Not lately. The last code change was July 2025 and several reported problems are still open, so treat it as stalled but usable.
