Four read-only tools cover a WeChat Reading account: list every book on your shelf, search that shelf by title or author, fetch the highlights and notes from one book grouped by chapter, and fetch that book's most popular reader reviews. Nothing is written back, edited, or deleted. Signing in uses your WeChat Reading browser cookie rather than a developer key, and that cookie expires regularly. The code has not changed since May 2025.

Do I need a developer key for this?
No. You supply your WeChat Reading login cookie, copied from your browser, or a CookieCloud account that syncs it for you. There is no paid key.
Can I use this to turn a book's highlights into a summary?
Yes — ask for the notes on a specific book and they come back grouped by chapter, ready to condense.
Can it change or delete anything in my account?
No. All four tools only read. There is no way for it to edit a highlight, remove a book, or post a review.
Is the CookieCloud option safe?
Be careful. Your sync password is sent to the CookieCloud server, which sends your readable WeChat Reading login cookie back. The default server in the instructions belongs to the project author, so run your own or paste the cookie directly instead.
Which apps does it work in?
Claude Desktop is the documented target, and it runs in any assistant that can launch a small local command from a config file.
Why does it stop working after a while?
The login cookie expires. When that happens the tools return a sign-in error and you have to copy a fresh cookie.
Is it still being maintained?
The code has been untouched since May 2025. Nothing is broken today, but cookie-based logins tend to drift, and no fixes have landed in over a year.
Will the answers come back in English?
The book titles, notes, and reviews come back in whatever language they were written in, which for this Chinese reading service is usually Chinese. Your assistant can translate them.
