MCP.Pizza Chef: Waishnav

This tool runs on your own computer and lets ChatGPT reach into specific project folders you choose, safely, through a private connection you control. Once set up, ChatGPT can open your code, edit files, search through your project, and run commands like tests, builds, or git changes — much like Codex or Claude Code, but built for ChatGPT. Getting started means installing a small program, starting a secure tunnel, and approving the connection yourself with a password only you know. It also works with other apps built to connect the same way, such as Claude Desktop or Cursor.

DevSpace connected to ChatGPT

Give ChatGPT a secure connection to your own machine and Turn ChatGPT into Codex

DevSpace is a self-hosted MCP server that lets ChatGPT read, edit, search, and run code in your real local projects — your files, your tools, your terminal — without uploading anything to a third party. You run it on your machine, expose it through a tunnel you control, and approve the connection with a password only you have.

Installation

DevSpace requires Node >=22.19 <27.

Install the DevSpace CLI:

npm install -g @waishnav/devspace

Then initialize and start the server:

devspace init
devspace serve

Or run it without a global install:

npx @waishnav/devspace init
npx @waishnav/devspace serve

During setup, DevSpace asks for:

  • the local project folders ChatGPT is allowed to open through DevSpace
  • the local port, usually 7676
  • your public HTTPS base URL from Cloudflare Tunnel, ngrok, Pinggy, Tailscale Funnel, or another reverse proxy

Use the public origin without /mcp during setup:

https://your-tunnel-host.example.com

devspace FAQ

Which apps can I use this with?
DevSpace is built to connect with ChatGPT, and it also works with other apps that support the same open connection standard, such as Claude Desktop or Cursor.
Do I need an account or API key?
No API key is required. You do need to install DevSpace on your own computer and set a password yourself to approve any connection.
How hard is it to set up?
It takes more than a single click. You install a small program from the command line, start it with two commands, and connect it to the internet using a free tunneling tool. Each step is copy-and-paste friendly, but it does take a few minutes.
Can I use this to fix bugs in my own code?
Yes — once connected, ChatGPT (or another compatible app like Claude Desktop or Cursor) can open your project, read the files, make edits, and run your tests, so you can describe a bug and have it worked on directly.
Can I use this to run commands like tests or builds?
Yes — DevSpace lets ChatGPT run commands such as test suites, build scripts, and git changes inside whichever project folder you've approved.
Is my code uploaded anywhere?
No. Your files stay on your own computer. DevSpace opens a direct, private connection between your machine and an app like ChatGPT, Claude, or a Gemini-based tool, so nothing is copied to a third-party server.
Which folders can it access?
Only the project folders you specifically choose during setup. It cannot see or touch anything else on your computer.
Does this work on Windows?
Yes, but you'll need Git Bash or a similar tool installed first — plain Windows PowerShell or Command Prompt isn't supported yet.
