gcloud-mcp

MCP.Pizza Chef: googleapis

This connects your AI assistant directly to Google Cloud through the official gcloud command-line tool, so you can ask in plain English to list your cloud storage buckets, check on a virtual machine, review recent error logs, or manage backups — and get the results without hunting through documentation for the right command. It works in Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, and Cline, installs with a single command, and uses your existing Google Cloud login instead of a separate key or account.

gcloud MCP Server ☁️

The gcloud Model Context Protocol (MCP) server enables AI assistants to easily interact with the Google Cloud environment using the gcloud CLI. With the gcloud MCP server you can:

  • Interact with Google Cloud using natural language. Describe the outcome you want instead of memorizing complex command syntax, flags, and arguments.
  • Automate and simplify complex workflows. Chain multiple cloud operations into a single, repeatable command to reduce manual effort and the chance of error.
  • Lower the barrier to entry for cloud management. Empower team members who are less familiar with gcloud to perform powerful actions confidently and safely.

📡 Available MCP Servers

This repository also hosts other MCP servers in addition to the gcloud MCP server. An up to date list is below, and links to other Google Cloud MCP servers hosted outside of this repo are here.

🚀 Getting Started

gcloud-mcp FAQ

Can I use this to check on my Google Cloud servers without typing commands?
Yes — you can ask in plain English, like "show me my running virtual machines," and it runs the right command for you.
Do I need a Google Cloud account to use this?
Yes. You need an existing Google Cloud account, and you'll need to install and sign in to the free gcloud command-line tool once before this can work.
Do I need a separate API key to set this up?
No. It uses the login you already have from signing in to the gcloud command-line tool, so there's no extra key to create or manage.
Which AI apps does this work with?
It's built for Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, and Cline, and can also be added to other assistants, such as Gemini, that support the same connection method.
How hard is it to set up?
You paste a short snippet into your AI app's settings file, similar to installing a browser extension — no coding or building from source required.
Can I use this to look through my cloud error logs?
Yes — you can ask it to pull up recent errors or specific log entries so you can spot what went wrong without digging through a dashboard.
Is it safe to let my AI assistant run cloud commands on its own?
Some sensitive actions are blocked from running automatically, so you stay in control of anything that could change or delete something important.
Do I need to know the gcloud command-line tool to use this?
No — the whole point is that you describe what you want in everyday language, and it translates that into the right command behind the scenes.
