Gearsystem

MCP.Pizza Chef: drhelius

Gearsystem plays Master System, Game Gear, and SG-1000 titles on Windows, macOS, Linux, and BSD, and it ships with a built-in connection for AI assistants such as Claude, GitHub Copilot, and Codex. Once connected, the assistant can start and pause the game, rewind, read the console's memory, and report hardware status. That makes it useful for people writing retro homebrew, editing old cartridges, or simply curious about how a game works underneath. No account or key is required.

Gearsystem FAQ

Which assistants can control it?
The built-in connection is documented for GitHub Copilot, Claude, and Codex, and other MCP-compatible assistants should work the same way.
Do I need an account or key?
No. Everything runs on your own machine and nothing is sent to an outside service.
Can I use this to debug a game I am writing?
Yes — the assistant can pause execution, inspect memory, and report hardware status while the game runs.
What do I need to install?
Download the free app for Windows, macOS, Linux, or BSD, then point your assistant at the emulator's connection details.
Does it come with games?
No. You supply your own cartridge files, and the emulator runs with or without a console BIOS.
Which consoles does it cover?
Sega Master System, Game Gear, SG-1000, Sega Mark III, and Othello Multivision.
