MCP.Pizza Chef: blacktop

This connects a running copy of IDA Pro, the professional software-analysis program many security researchers already use, to your AI coding assistant. Once it's installed and pointed at your existing IDA Pro license, you can ask your assistant to open a program file, list its functions, view the underlying code in a more readable form, and search for specific behavior — without learning IDA Pro's own interface. It works with Cursor, Claude Code, Codex CLI, and Gemini CLI. No separate account or sign-in is needed, but you must already own a licensed copy of IDA Pro 9.4 on your computer.

ida-mcp-rs FAQ

Do I need to already own anything special to use this?
Yes — you need a licensed copy of IDA Pro 9.4 (or a matching older version) already installed on your computer. This tool works alongside IDA Pro; it doesn't replace it or come with its own license.
Do I need an API key or account to set this up?
No separate API key or account is required for the tool itself. You do need your own IDA Pro license, and whichever assistant you connect it to — Cursor, Claude Code, Codex CLI, or Gemini CLI — handles its own sign-in separately.
Which apps and AI assistants does this work with?
It's built to work with Cursor, Claude Code, Codex CLI, and Gemini CLI, and any similar assistant that supports the same connection method.
Can I use this to understand what an unfamiliar program file actually does?
Yes — you can open the file and ask your assistant to list its functions, look at the underlying code, and explain what specific parts are doing in plain language.
Can I use this to find hidden text or messages inside a program?
Yes — you can ask your assistant to pull out all the readable text stored inside a file, which often reveals file paths, error messages, or other clues about what it does.
How hard is this to set up?
It takes real technical comfort. You install a small program on your computer through a package manager or direct download, and on some systems you also need to point it at your existing IDA Pro installation. It is not a one-click setup, so a technical friend or your IT team can help if you get stuck.
Will this work on very large or complex files?
Yes, though a deep analysis of a large file can take some time to finish in the background. Simpler requests, like listing functions or pulling out text, respond right away.
Is it safe to point this at a file I'm unsure about?
The tool only opens and examines the file inside IDA Pro on your own computer; it does not run or execute the file itself.
