MCP.Pizza Chef: omni-mcp

Eight tools in total: check the scene, build a physics scene, drop in one of five robot types, run an Omniverse command, run any Python you like inside the simulator, generate or search for 3D models, and move an object. The advertised code preview before execution is only a polite request written into a tool description; nothing actually stops the code running. The model-search tool quietly ignores the position and size you give it. It needs a full Isaac Sim install on a suitable NVIDIA machine, and has not been touched since April 2025.

Isaac Sim MCP Extension and MCP Server

The MCP Server and its extension leverage the Model Context Protocol (MCP) framework to enable natural language control of NVIDIA Isaac Sim, transforming conversational AI inputs into precise simulation manipulation. This expansion bridges the MCP ecosystem with embodied intelligence applications.

Features

  • Natural language control of Isaac Sim
  • Dynamic robot positioning and movement
  • Custom lighting and scene creation
  • Advanced robot simulations with obstacle navigation
  • Interactive code preview before execution

Requirements

  • NVIDIA Isaac Sim 4.2.0 or higher
  • Python 3.9+
  • Cursor AI editor for MCP integration

Mandatory Pre-requisite

Installation

cd ~/Documents
git clone https://github.com/omni-mcp/isaac-sim-mcp

Install and Enable Extension

Isaac Sim extension folder should point to your project folder:

  • Extension location: ~/Documents/isaac-sim-mcp

isaac-sim-mcp FAQ

What do I need before this works?
A working NVIDIA Isaac Sim 4.2 or newer install on a machine with the right graphics hardware. That is a large piece of software, not a quick download.
Do I need a key or token?
Only for two of the eight tools. Generating 3D models needs a paid Beaver3D account with credit on it, and searching model libraries needs an NVIDIA developer key. Robots and scenes work without either.
Does it really ask before running code?
No. The project lists a code preview as a feature, but that is only wording asking the assistant to show its work first. Code sent to it runs.
Which apps does it work in?
The instructions cover Cursor. Anything that can launch a local command ought to work, but Cursor is the only one the project has tried.
Can I use this to set up a robot demonstration by asking?
Yes, within limits. Five robot types can be placed and moved directly, and anything beyond that gets written as code and run inside the simulator.
Is it still being developed?
There have been no changes since April 2025. Treat it as an experiment rather than something maintained.
Does it place searched models where I ask?
Not reliably. The search tool accepts a position and a size but never passes them along, so you will often have to move the object afterwards.
