This repository contains a Model Context Protocol server implementation for Reddit that allows AI assistants to access and interact with Reddit content through PRAW (Python Reddit API Wrapper).

What is MCP?

Is it still being updated?
It has been quiet since December 2025, roughly seven months of no changes. Nothing is broken or deprecated, and no replacement is named, but treat it as lightly maintained.
Which apps does it work in?
Claude Desktop and Cursor are both documented, and any other app that speaks MCP can run it from the same config block.
Do I need a key?
Yes. You register a free app on Reddit's own settings page and paste the two values it gives you into the config. That is enough for reading.
Can I use this to research what people say about my product?
Yes — search across all of Reddit or inside particular communities, then have your assistant pull out the recurring complaints and compliments.
Can it post or comment as me?
Only if you also supply your Reddit username and password. Leave those out and it can read but never write.
How hard is the setup?
Harder than average. You download the project, install a Python runner, register the Reddit app, and fill several file paths into the config by hand.
Does it cost anything to use?
The project is free and Reddit credentials are free to create for personal use, though heavy automated reading runs into Reddit's own limits.
