mongodb-lens

MCP.Pizza Chef: furey

Forty-two tools cover the full range of database work: finding and counting records, running reports, inspecting how collections are laid out, working out why a lookup is slow, and exporting results to a spreadsheet-friendly file. It also writes, so it can insert, update, rename, and delete, including dropping an entire database. Treat it as a live connection rather than a safe preview. You point it at a MongoDB connection string, which carries your own database username and password, not an outside account key.

mongodb-lens FAQ

Can I use this to clean up bad records in my database?
Yes. It can insert, update, and delete, and destructive actions make you type back a four-digit confirmation code first. That prompt can be switched off in the config, so leave it on.
Do I need to sign up for a key?
No. You supply a MongoDB connection string, which contains your own database username and password. Nothing is sent to an outside service.
Which apps does it work in?
Claude Desktop and Cursor are documented, and it runs in any app that supports MCP servers.
How hard is setup?
You paste a short block into your app's config file and point it at your database. Both a plain install and a Docker image are offered.
Is it safe to point at my live business database?
Only with care. There is no read-only mode, so all forty-two tools are available at once, including dropping databases and removing database users. Give it a limited account.
Is the project still being updated?
The last code change was April 2025, so it has been quiet for well over a year. It still installs and runs, but do not expect quick fixes.
