opentofu-mcp-server

MCP.Pizza Chef: opentofu

This server gives your assistant direct access to the OpenTofu Registry, so it can look up providers and modules, read the documentation for a specific resource, and show working configuration examples while you write. OpenTofu maintains it themselves, and a hosted version at mcp.opentofu.org needs no installation at all: one line of settings in Claude Code, Cursor, or VS Code and you are finished. You can also run a local copy with a single command. No key or account is required.

opentofu-mcp-server FAQ

Which apps does this work in?
Claude Code, Cursor, and VS Code have ready-made setup steps, and any MCP-compatible assistant can use the hosted address.
Do I need a key?
No. The registry is public, so no key, account, or sign-up is needed.
How hard is setup?
About as easy as it gets. One command in Claude Code, or a single line pointing at the hosted address.
Can I use this to write OpenTofu configuration faster?
Yes — your assistant pulls the exact documentation and examples as it writes, instead of guessing at option names.
Does it run anything on my infrastructure?
No. It only reads registry documentation, and never plans, applies, or changes anything you have deployed.
Do I have to install something?
Not with the hosted service. If you would rather run it yourself, one command starts a local copy.
