With this connected, you can ask your assistant to look up any public X (Twitter) profile, pull someone's recent tweets, search by keyword or hashtag, or check engagement numbers like likes and retweets. It can also keep watch on accounts for you, reporting new followers, unfollows, deleted tweets, and quote or retweet activity as they happen. It works in Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, Cline, Windsurf, Zed, Continue, and Claude Code, and requires a free token from the developer's site to get started.

Please review and install the twitter-mcp MCP server for me. The project is at <project-path>.

Steps:
1. Review these files for security:
   - src/twitter_mcp/api_client.py — Confirm it only connects to ai.6551.io, no data sent elsewhere
   - src/twitter_mcp/config.py — Confirm token is only read from local config.json or env vars, no hardcoded secrets or leaks

opentwitter-mcp FAQ

Can I use this to check what someone posted on Twitter/X recently?
Yes — you can ask for a person's recent tweets, and the assistant will pull them up along with like, retweet, and reply counts.
Can I use this to monitor an account for new followers or unfollows?
Yes — you can add any public account to a watch list, and the assistant can report new followers, unfollowers, and even tweets that get deleted.
Which apps does this work with?
It works with Claude Desktop, Cursor, VS Code, Cline, Windsurf, Zed, Continue, and Claude Code.
Do I need an account or API key to use this?
Yes — you'll need a free token from the developer's site, which you paste into your assistant's settings once during setup.
How hard is it to set up?
It takes a small copy-and-paste step: you add a short snippet with your token to your AI assistant's configuration, with no coding required.
Can I search tweets by topic or hashtag instead of by person?
Yes — you can search by keyword or hashtag, or filter for popular tweets with a minimum number of likes.
Does this work with AI models other than Claude?
Yes — because it uses the open Model Context Protocol, it can work with assistants built on Claude, GPT, or Gemini, as long as the app you're using supports that protocol.
Can this post tweets or take actions on my Twitter account?
No — it only looks up and searches public Twitter/X data; it cannot post, like, follow, or take any action on your behalf.
