Authentication

This server supports two authentication methods:

Option 1: Client Credentials (Dev Dashboard apps, January 2026+)

As of January 1, 2026, new Shopify apps are created in the Dev Dashboard and use OAuth client credentials instead of static access tokens.

Which apps does this work in?
Claude Desktop, Claude Code, and Cursor. You add it by pasting a short settings block that runs the tool on your own computer.
Do I need anything from Shopify to set it up?
Yes. You create a custom app inside your Shopify admin, grant it access to products, customers, and orders, then copy those credentials into the settings block. There is no hosted version you can just click.
Can I use this to refund a customer?
Yes — there are dedicated tools for cancelling an order, marking it paid, creating a fulfillment, and issuing a refund. These are real changes to your live store, not a preview.
Can it only read my store, or can it change things?
Both. Roughly half the tools create, update, or delete records. Approve each action one at a time rather than granting blanket permission.
How many things can it actually do?
44 separate tools ship today, more than the 31 the project's own readme advertises.
Does it cost anything?
The tool itself is free and open source. You are billed only by Shopify for your existing store plan.
Is it still being worked on?
Yes — it was updated in April 2026 and tracks recent Shopify releases.
Does it work with a store on another platform?
No. It is Shopify-only, and it needs the store's own credentials.
